McKeesport has a total area of 5.4 square miles (14 km 2), of which 5.0 square miles (13 km 2) is land and 0.4 square miles (1.0 km 2), or 7.06%, is water. [16] McKeesport is located about 12 miles (19 km) upstream, and south, from Pittsburgh, at the confluence of the Monongahela and Youghiogheny rivers.
