James Hay Partnership is a provider of financial services products in the UK with headquarters in Salisbury. The company is best known for administering Self Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs) introduced in the Finance Act 1989 .
James "Jim" Hay (born 7 June 1950) is a Dubai-based Scottish businessman. He is the chairman of Dubai-based JMH Group, a private family business operating in the construction and luxury goods markets. [1] Hay and his wife Fitriani are racehorse owners and trainers, and significant donors to the Conservative Party.
All three companies were based in Salisbury, Wiltshire where James Hay Partnership remained one of the largest SIPP providers. [1] The Finance Act 2004 implemented wide-ranging changes to the UK pensions regime, [2] most of which came into force on 6 April 2006 (also known as A-Day) and is commonly referred to as pension simplification. [3]
James Hay was born in Lawrence, South Otago, New Zealand, on 17 May 1888 to Scottish parents, Isabella McLean and her blacksmith husband, William Hay. William Hay was killed in an accident when James was aged 7. He received his education at Lawrence District High School, until age 13 when he left school to support his family.

Hay was born on 15 January 1755. He was the son of Dorriel Campbell and Sir James Hay, 4th Baronet, [1] who claimed title 1805 after it had been dormant since the death of his great-grandfather's "degenerate third cousin" Sir James Hay, 3rd Baronet in c. 1683. [2] His father had attended Edinburgh University and was a physician in Edinburgh.
