Dick as Batman was what got me back into comics after a decade and a half. Morrison's run on Batman is still one of my favorite runs of all times (even if parts of it still confuse me). I hated, hated, hated what we lost / could have lost because of the New 52 initiative.
Dick Grayson becoming Batman feels like a step backwards for him. The entire reason he becomes Nightwing is to become his own person and break out of the shadow of Bruce, which is something he succeeds at in pretty convincing fashion. Dick becoming Batman basically just guarantees that he's forever stuck in Bruce's shadow.
As for Dick as Bats, OP, the reason it was so great is because it's a complete role reversal. Dick as Batman is the more reasonable, down-to-earth, friendly character while Damian's Robin acts as the psycho avenger of the night. Also, since Dick is a cop, it totally changes his relationship with the GCPD, they all love him lol.
Dick and Starfire were more or less the OTP from 1980 to 1992(?), then Dick was yanked from the Titan books back to Batman. For a while it was up in the air whether Dick would be with Barbara or Starfire, but by the New 52 it was pretty much solidified that Dick/Barbara was the canon one.
So among the associated network of Batman and his team, the most prominent relationship between members are Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon as well as Tim Drake and Stephanie Brown. Between the two pairing which one do you like more? Dick and Barbara: Tim and Stephanie:
Legendary comic Lothario Dick Grayson is notorious for being pretty much the most sought-after available man in the DC universe. He's the male version of Wonder Woman in terms of sex appeal and universal thirst, no matter if they're heroes or villains, younger or older, male or female. In many...
Someone once pointed out that in All Star Batman and Robin, it takes less time for a missing persons report to go out in Gotham City, be picked up by milk companies, for the milk companies to package cartons of milk with Dick Grayson's face on them, for those milk cartons to be distributed to Metropolis, for Clark Kent to pick up those cartons of milk from the store, and for him to ultimate ...
Dick and Damian. Best Robins by far and absolutely love their dynamics. Wish DC would stop messing around with Grayson. It’s amazing how popular he is in spite of all the stupid things they do to him. Wish they’d let Dick be a contracted Spyral spy working as a favor of sorts to Tiger for his day job and Nightwing during his free time.
Aug 25, 2020. #36. Forkball said: A flashback episode where Batman and Robin split is based on the fact that Dick didn't know Babs was Batgirl and Bruce never told him. They do reconcile in the TAS and have some Bat-family episodes near the end of the series run. Though in JL and BB Dick is barely mentioned.
Yet Dan Didio stated in an article that Dick Grayson was supposed to be the one to die at his hands. Rumor has it that writers outcry was great. Geoff Johns was likely even willing to sacrifice Superboy, a character he took great pride in and revamped, rather than have Nightwing die.
