The centers expanded into other areas of health and fitness. The chain peaked the 1980s, when it was among the largest fitness center chains in the United States.

The golf club has two 18-hole golf courses: Scarlet and Gray. The Scarlet was completed in 1938 and the Gray was finished later in 1940.
