Re: Perch limit clean « Reply #1 on: Feb 19, 2023, 08:18 PM » Lol, I do, after 150 one afternoon that took hours, but was teaching my boy how to, I'd rather not do that many again.

I usually start on the deep weed edge for perch, and then as winter progresses, I fish the first steep break into the main basin of the lake. Hopefully, the main lake basin is muck, which the perch like to feed in for blood worms and mayfly larvae. I usually end up fishing this deep break, but I have never gone deeper than 40 feet for perch.

Mr. miller I know what you mean., sorry if I seemed rude. I am now thinking of how darn cold the hands get when cutting frozen fish. I cut up about 30 perch today and it took me a good bit of time. It is quite a task as I can't remember the last time I did that many.
The least depth which the SeaQualizer can be set to release a fish is 50 feet, so when perch fishing it would only be useful when the perch are at depths greater than 50 feet. At shallower depths, a descender which releases the fish when you jerk on the line would be better.
I typically take 5 - 10 mins while my catch are still fresh and thawed to clean them on the ice or at the lakes edge. This way my filets are 'fresh' and I dont need to go through the trouble of defrosting at home and my wife doesnt get miffed with the fish guts coming in the front door.
I get it from pike or perch or walleye if I clean a lot of them. I wear gloves or just fold a paper towel over where I grab them and it seems to keep it from happening. I can get a way with cleaning them once a week or so without gloves but any more than that and my fingers will eventually peel. My Dad gets it bad from cleaning pike.
You can not take too many perch, unless you can not clean them, give them to your friends and neighbors to clean and cook. The more perch you take, the faster and bigger the rest will grow. The walleyes and bass will survive from fry to fingerlings.
Re: Limit on perch? « Reply #1 on: Today at 01:30 PM » As many as you want to clean plus one fish. There is no limit on perch.
