My mom's latest CT and MRI show that the primary anorectal mass has gotten larger, one enlarged inguinal lymph node has also gotten larger, and there is a suspicious new 5mm nodule showing up in her lung.
After several consultations, and in the interest of time, it looks like my mother will have her anal melanoma mass and inguinal lymph node resection removed by a three surgeon team at Kaiser. These surgeons are part of the melanoma clinic in Riverside and believe in a more aggressive approach.

The American Cancer Society on its website says "Around 5 of every 100 melanomas in women occur on the vulva, usually on the labia minora and clitoris. They make up about 6 of every 100 vulvar cancers." There are two kinds of vulva melanoma (perhaps more but I haven't seen any reference to any others) – cutaneous and mucosal.
