Ronald Gabriel Palillo (April 2, 1949 – August 14, 2012) was an American actor and teacher. [3] [4] He was best known for his role as the endearingly dim-witted character Arnold Horshack on the ABC sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter (1975–1979). [5] [6]

He was awarded a Tony in 1988 for Best Actor for Speed-the-Plow , a satirical dissection of the American movie business, and was nominated for an Emmy for his recurring role as political strategist Bruno Gianelli in The West Wing .
Eldard was born on Long Island, New York.He is the sixth of seven children, and has four sisters and two brothers. He is of Irish and Scottish descent. [1] Eldard's mother died in a car accident when he was a child, and Eldard and his siblings were sent to live with various family members.
