But beware, it's a powerful medication even if it's the last in the class of barbs. Don't abuse it, it has a super long half-life and will accumulate if you take too much. Take 50/100mg and that's it.

I know people who have been prescribed phenobarbital for anxiety, epilepsy (this is mostly what phenobarbital is prescribed for these days though it's used much more rarely now as there are much safer and better drugs for that purpose) as well as for benzodiazepine and alcohol withdrawal.
Slam_everything said: Baclofen isn't as good as somas somas are far superior. And yes phenobarbital will prally help with opiate withdrawal as its a barbiturate with a very long lasting half life. You were absolutely right about the baclofen brother. Weak ass shit. Even at 60mg which is a lot for one dose.
72. May 22, 2015. #2. Barbiturates are CNS depressants, somewhat similar to benzos but more potent. They are sedatives and have anxiolytic properties by working on GABA receptors. Don't think snorting is a good idea, take them orally, phenobarbital has a very high bioavailability. Half life is long between 2-4 days.
Also, in case you had any doubt about combining phenobarbital with anything, check this list out. A highlight from one of the entries: "Using narcotic pain or cough medications together with other medications that also cause central nervous system depression can lead to serious side effects including respiratory distress, coma, and even death."
Phenobarbital has a very, very long half life (53-118 hours according to Wikipedia ). Not only does this long half life making daily dosing tricky but it also means the potential for drug interactions even days after your last phenobarbital dose exist. Mixing alcohol with barbiturates is very dangerous, do not do it.

For this purpose phenobarbital has a lower dose range - around 30–120 mg/day(what i would reccomend for you) but start at ONE pill; however this practice is uncommon in developed countries. Click to expand...
Messages. 239. Sep 3, 2009. #2. The difference is that phenobarbital sucks. I love barbs, but pheno literally has no recreational potential unless you find sleeping particularly euphoric. Secobarbital, pentobarbital, awesome drugs. But pheno will do nothing but make one drowsy, not unlike taking a couple Benadryl.
All of them have recreational potential. The most common ones around today are Butalbital (Fioricet, Fiorinal), Phenobarbital (Luminal). Historically the most abused were/are Pentobarbital (Nembutal), Secobarbital (Seconal), Amobarbital (Amytal), etc. They were all but replaced by the Benzodiazepines. Barbiturates have a track record of death.
