The National Institute of Education (NIE), Sri Lanka, based in Maharagama, was established in 1986 under the provisions of the National Institute of Education Act No. 28 of 1985. Anula Vidyalaya is a national girls' school in Colombo. It was established in 1941 by E. W. Adikaram with 38 students and five teachers.
