Flying female mallard. A rather nice action shot of a female Mallard Duck coming into land, framed by two darker bands in the background. It appears on the Mallard article, but it could do with a more prominent position. The picture seems to be the only contribution by Mike Correns. The Grumman J2F Duck (company designation G-15) is an American single-engine amphibious biplane. It was used by each major branch of the U.S. armed forces from the mid-1930s until just after World War II , primarily for utility and air-sea rescue duties.
Caleana major, commonly known as the large duck orchid, [1] is a small orchid found in eastern and southern Australia. [2] This terrestrial plant features a remarkable flower, resembling a duck in flight. The flower is an attractant to insects, such as male sawflies which pollinate the flower in a process known as pseudocopulation. [2]
