Robert Moses State Park - Long Island is a 875-acre (3.54 km 2) state park in southern Suffolk County, New York. [3] The park lies on the western end of Fire Island, one of the central barrier islands off the southern coast of Long Island, and is known for its five-mile (8.0 km) stretch of beaches on the Atlantic Ocean.
The Drovers Inn was built about 1844 and the Rounds Family Residence was built 1895–1912. The inn is a 2 + 1 ⁄ 2-story wood-frame Greek Revival structure with an overlay of elaborate Victorian-era decoration added about 1880. The residence was built in 1895 and features an engaged tower with a bell cast roof added in 1912.

In 1802, Asa Potter bought the inn from Benjamin Bogardus. In 1804, during the race for Governor of New York State, both candidates had headquarters in Rhinebeck. Gen. Morgan Lewis had his at the inn, then known as Potter's Tavern, and Vice President Aaron Burr had his down the street at the Kip Tavern. Potter died in 1805.
