Novum Testamentum Graece (The New Testament in Greek) is a critical edition of the New Testament in its original Koine Greek published by Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft (German Bible Society), forming the basis of most modern Bible translations and biblical criticism.
This table summarises the chronology of the main tables and serves as a guide to the historical periods mentioned. Much of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament may have been assembled in the 5th century BCE. [7] The New Testament books were composed largely in the second half of the 1st century CE. [8] The deuterocanonical books fall largely in between.
The New Testament was first published in 1983 and the Old Testament followed in 1987. [2] The ICB was revised to a more sophisticated 5th grade reading level and was dubbed the New Century Version. A gender-neutral edition was first published in 1991, supplanting the original. [3]
In 1973, the second edition of the OAB now called the New Oxford Annotated Bible (NOAB) was published which also used the RSV text. [2] [3] In 1977, the NOAB was re-published with the Apocrypha. [7] This edition is still in print. In 2001, a third edition was published which used the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) of the Bible.
