A friend of mine had an S&W model 41 semi-auto target pistol that was durn near as accurate with Thunderbolt bulk ammo as with Eley. Strange. That was around 1980 or a little later. I had a Colt .22 conversion on a 1911 that liked Remington standard velocity. Again, strange. Good Luck.

best semi auto 22LR pistol in the way of reliability would be the Browning 1911-22, I have a few other .22 pistols I shoot more accurately with, but the Browning hasn't had any failure with any ammo I've got my hands on so far.

"Best" is a matter of opinion. I have the following semi-autos still in production that could be considered pocket pistols: 1. Sig P238 .380 - Single Action Only. A clone of the Mustang. Pretty good trigger and mine has been reliable. Fairly accurate little pistol.

She is 13 and has been shooting for about 5 years. We shoot recreationally 22 revolver, 22 rifle, AR-15 223, and we also bird hunt and she shoots the 410 and 28 guage. She is small, but knows how to handle guns. Any suggestions on 22 semi-auto pistols that have decent availability would be a good start.

If you are looking for an absolutely reliable .22 auto pistol, there isn't one. Some are extremely good in general, others not quite so much, but each individual gun is, an individual. And each one might have individual quirks with a particular type/brand of ammo. Even the best of them can have issues with certain ammo.

  7. Best 22 Semi Automatic that shoots LR, long and shorts

Marlin 60 is for many reasons the number one selling semi-auto .22LR rifle because it'll pretty much eat any type of .22LR round you put in it. Not to mention the Micro-groove barrel... Not to mention the T-900 trigger system... Not to mention they are now owned by Remington and have their backing...

A couple other semi-autos that would be around the $250 ballpark would be the Beretta U22 and the S&W 22A. These represent other extremes in grips, with the U22 being very small and the 22A being pretty chunky.

  9. Best .22lr Bulk Ammo for Semi-Autos - The Firing Line Forums

Most auto chambers seem to be large enough that the Super-X stuff runs fine in them. If you are looking for best accuracy as well as reliable function, you are going to need to try several as has been already expressed. For accuracy, my particular 10/22 likes bulk Winchester Xpert lead HP and Winchester Super-X HV plated solids.

  10. Hunting Small game with a .22 pistol - The Firing Line Forums

Some of my fondest hunting memories are of hunting jackrabbits as a teenager in the early 1970's with my semi-auto Browning Medalist .22 target pistol. That pistol is so accurate that....well any misses were NOT the pistol's fault! If I could get a rest for the pistol against a tree or post I could hit them at 75 yards all day long.

  11. Shotshells in a 22 semi auto pistol? - The Firing Line Forums

    thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=451425

I have a colt woodsman 22 and I was wondering if I can safely (for me and the gun) use .22 shotshells in it. This may sound ridiculous, but my house is being attacked by big wood boring bees, and they're resistant to sprays and rakes and so forth. Yah. Huntin bees. That's right. While I'm on here, I'd like to give props to federal's automatch ammo.
