5 hp Wallenstein – 5/8 per hour. 3ph mounted on 80 hp tractor (Deutz Agrolux 80) – 1/2 cord per hour. Axe/maul – 1/4 cord per hour. I'm sorry if the poll options are a bit off. I know there is a huge differance between the higher and lower end models of each brand. Also, I don't know all the common wood splitter types.

  3. How many of you are running Eastonmade wood splitters?

Not to beat a dead horse but most guys on here know that we run a power split so my view is going to be slanted. We ran a TW-5 for years , then switched to the power split. There is no comparison. The Eastomades look like great, well built machines, sounds like the owner is a great guy.

Here, between Fredericton and Woodstock it's $70 for the day. Am planning on getting one and was going to go to the States for a $1000 Huskee but the speed of the Splitfire is nice. From what I've been quoted I'm looking at about $3000 for a 3265. So hopefully next year, until then the cherry, ash and maple will be split with the fiskars.

Location. Langley, BC Canada. Apr 1, 2010. #1. I bought a wood splitter today. Lots of good reading on wood splitters in the archives, so thanks to the regular contributors. Its a Surge Master 20 ton model, which is the same as the Wallenstein WX530. I was looking at the Speeco 25 ton but the Canada made WX530 looked to be much better built.

Cost of a unit is going to depend a great deal on a lot of variable.Local demand, brand of unit, condition, etc.But in my experience, most good woodsplitters hold their value fairly well if they are taken care of.Nothing unusual to see a $1500 splitter going for a $1000 used. But as you noted, you can find a number of units around that need some ...

My little New Holland, though only cost me $5500. To add an axle, Honda motor, and frame for the splitter would have added about $2000-2500 (squarely out of my budget), i would guess, based on Chris's prices on his 24" models, and that motor would only be good for one thing, whereas my tractor does all sorts of things.

History of Didier: "A very appropriate name for a "Log Splitter" that was designed to handle and manage any of the trees found in the forest. A bold statement, it certainly is, but it is being made by a company's management that introduced log splitters to the mass markets in the mid-1970's.

The wood varied in size, but equal size/amount in both splitters, the 5 had a 4-way wedge, it was wood like the average guy would get to split. The 5 got done with their wood and the SS had 5 or 6 more pieces to split, both ended up with about the same size splits.
