The LE6920 are also supplied with two Colt 20rd USGI mags while the SOCOM are with two 30rd USGI mags. Posted: 7/29/2012 6:39:21 PM EDT. [#8] I don't know how accurate it is, but the Budsgunshop description also says it has a 2 stage tactical trigger, in addition to the stuff already mentioned.
The current LE6920 is stamped "M4" on the lower. However it's still the LE6920, Colt just changed the stamp. If you check the serial number, it should start with "LE". Colt has not cut any corners, they just deleted the extra 20 round magazines, sling, and cleaning kit to keep customer cost down, and deleted the carry handle.
There is now a specification rifle that has come onto the market with the SKU LE6920-FBP2. The rifle is available from Arms Unlimited. Description below is from the AU website and validated through Colt. The Colt Federal Patrol Carbine is an advanced rifle based on Colt's legendary M4 platform adding key accessories as requested by the FBI.
All of the carbines/rifles from 2021, 2022, 2023 are excellent. If you have any specific questions, just let me know. I've seen zero evidence of "lower Colt quality" with their rifles personally. Some people lose their minds over change and start the accusations and rumors, many others perpetuate the same.
The guns are 100% the same as the LE6920, with different cosmetic markings on the port side magwell. No difference in receivers, lower parts, barrel, BCG, buffer tube, stock, flash hider. It's Colt, rarely are 2 alike. No guarantees on markings unless photo verification or holding in your hands.
Posted: 4/30/2019 1:08:26 AM EDT. So it has come down to these two rifles. I already own 2 6920’s. A LE6920 restricted marked receiver and a LE6920-R (Trooper) M4 marked receiver. I scored the Trooper for $690.00 OTD in October of 2017. Both rifles have been 100% reliable and accurate with 62-75gr ammo.
However some experienced shooters (including myself) prefers to mount the rear of the sling on the right side of the buttstock (see my first picture of my Colt 6920 M4 carbine), the advantage of this way is when you shoot on the weak side (left shoulder), the rear of your sling won't strangle your neck.
The Saint is relatively available in this crazy AR15 market, which is a big plus, as is the M&P sport II. I found a LE6920, which would have been my first choice, but they are selling for around $1500 right now. My good buddy has the original Smith M&P sport, but he likes the Saint better and would buy that over the Smith if it were up to him.
There is a colt LE6920 (not the CR prefix) rifle with 16” barrel. The barrel, upper receiver, and BCD got the “C” cage code on. The serial # begins with LE. The bolt says on it “MPC.”. The entire BCG looks and feels better than the newer Colt BCG. It was bought about 8 years ago.
The Colt LE6920 vs CR6920 - The Evolution of the LE6920 and Differences in the CR6920. Colt owns the “blueprints” (TDP) for the M4 until 2037. FN or whomever has to pay royalties to Colt. Colt doesn’t have a civilian retail unit so every bit of a Colt semi auto M4 and semi auto M16 is bonafide and battle tested.
