Constituted 14 December 1967 in the Georgia Army National Guard as the 230th Artillery, a parent regiment under the Combat Arms Regimental System. Organized 1 January 1968 from existing units to consist of the 1st Battalion, an element of the 30th Infantry Division. Redesignated 1 May 1972 as the 230th Field Artillery.
