The Wetherby Whaler is a chain of fish and chips restaurants in the United Kingdom.The first restaurant was founded in 1989 in Wetherby with six more having been subsequently opened across Yorkshire in Guiseley, Wakefield, York, Pudsey, Empire Outwood and Tadcaster (takeway only).
In 1930 he opened "the world's biggest fish and chip shop". The original restaurant was closed in December 2011. The Wetherby Whaler group purchased the site and planned a £500,000 refurbishment to open during the summer of 2012. [13] The new Wetherby Whaler restaurant opened on 22 May 2012.

Wetherby (/ ˈ w ɛ ð ə b i / WETH-ə-bee) [2] is a market town and civil parish in the City of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.It is close to West Yorkshire county's border with North Yorkshire, and lies approximately 12 miles (19 kilometres) from Leeds City Centre, 12 mi (19 km) from York and 8 mi (13 km) from Harrogate.
Wetherby Ings are water meadows, by the River Wharfe now used as parkland in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, England. The ings on the north and south bank are used as parkland and for sports grounds for the town's football and rugby league teams.
A blue plaque marking the site of Wetherby Castle. For 15 years, Wetherby was home to a castle built without the consent of the King or Parliament. It was constructed in 1140 by the Percy family to guard the crossing by the River Wharfe, particularly against prevalent raids by the Scottish, who controlled most of England north of Yorkshire at the time.
