Starscream claims that he had been killed in battle defending Galvatron from Unicron, and pledges his allegiance to the Predacon leader Megatron. In reality, he was destroyed by Galvatron, and plots to usurp Megatron and take control of the Predacons.
In order to prove to Sparkplug and Spike that the Decepticons are good, Skyfire brings them to Megatron who takes them prisoner. Skyfire begins to doubt Megatron, and when some Autobots are taken hostage, Skyfire refuses to execute them. Starscream shoots Skyfire and destroys the Autobots, but it turns out that he only destroyed a hologram.
The player will also fight a number of familiar Decepticons from the Armada show, such as Starscream, Cyclonus, and Tidal Wave. The plot is similar to Armada, right down to the final battle with Unicron at the end. A few of the voice actors from the show (notably Garry Chalk as Prime and David Kaye as Megatron) voiced for the game.

In 2007, a Target store exclusive value pack of four Voyager class Cybertron toys was released. It included Jetfire, Megatron, Optimus Prime and Soundwave, all identical to their original releases.
As the battle on the Moon continues, Megatron engages Optimus Prime only to get severely wounded by the latter. Megatron then contacts Starscream to assist him but the Seeker Commander repeatedly ignores his requests for help, commanding Slipstream to activate the forcefield to prevent the Autobots from interfering with their plans.

In order to gain their respect, Starscream awakens Skyquake, a legendary Decepticon warrior who was entombed in stasis on Earth for centuries, and attempts to recruit him into his new army.
