Devils Fork State Park is in northwestern South Carolina on the eastern edge of the Sumter National Forest at the edge of 7,500-acre (3,035 ha) Lake Jocassee. It is located three miles (5 km) off SC 11 , the Cherokee Scenic Highway, near the town of Salem, South Carolina .
NC 212 was established in 1926 as a new primary routing between NC 208 in Belva and Devil Fork Gap at the Tennessee state line. [2] In 1981, NC 212 was truncated one-half mile (0.80 km) east of Big Creek Road (SR 1312); the downgraded section, which was still unpaved at the time, became SR 1434. [3]

Devils Fork (conservation area), a wildland in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests of western Virginia, has been recognized by the Wilderness Society as a special place worthy of protection from logging and road construction. The Wilderness Society has designated the area as a "Mountain Treasure".

Henry-Vernon House is a historic home located near Bushy Fork, Person County, North Carolina. The earliest section was built in 1854, and is a two-story, Greek Revival style frame structure, with a one-story ell. In 1896, a Queen Anne style frame wing was added to the front of the house.
The area was first identified in 1966. [1] It was then designated by Congress in 1975 with the Eastern Wilderness Act. [1] Additional lands were added to Ellicott Rock Wilderness in 1984 [2] [3] with the passing of the North Carolina Wilderness Act [citation needed] and the Georgia Wilderness Act [citation needed], today designated wilderness totals 8,274 acres (33.48 km 2).
