Llanfairpwllgwyngyll or Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll (Welsh: [ɬan.ˌvair.puɬˈɡwɨ̞n.ɡɨ̞ɬ]), often shortened to Llanfairpwll and sometimes to Llanfair PG, is a village and community on the Isle of Anglesey, Wales. It is located on the Menai Strait, next to the Britannia Bridge.
In English, the first and older element of the name means "The Church of St Mary at Pwllgwyngyll [the white hazel pool]". [4] The second part translates as "near the rapid whirlpool, near St Tysilio's red cave", Llandysilio being the name of another local parish.
