Ellis Jacob CM OOnt (born 1953) is a Canadian business executive who serves as the president and chief executive officer of Cineplex Entertainment. Since 1987, he has been involved in the movie theatre industry. He was the founder of Galaxy Entertainment Inc. in 1999 and has been the President and CEO of Cineplex Galaxy since November 2003.
Cineplex Entertainment would eventually claim ownership of the space and proceeded to construct a 3-storey, 10-screen theatre in the Central-North area of the redeveloped Lansdowne Park. This is the first Cineplex VIP location in the National Capital Region and the first cinema in Ottawa to have adults-only screens.
Landmark Cinemas is the umbrella name originally covering the holdings of Towne Cinemas, Rokemay Cinemas, and occasionally May Theatres. It was adopted in 1974 after the purchase of Rothstein Theatres, which was the first big expansion for the company, adding about 15 locations (some closed immediately or sold and were never operated by Landmark).
