Bikram Yoga is a system of hot yoga, a type of yoga as exercise, spread by Bikram Choudhury and based on the teachings of B. C. Ghosh, that became popular in the early 1970s. [1] Classes consist of a fixed sequence of 26 postures , practised in a room heated to 105 °F (41 °C) with a humidity of 40%, intended to replicate the climate of India .

Swami Rama (Svāmī Rāma; 1925 – 13 November 1996) was an Indian yoga guru. [1] He moved to the US in 1969, initially teaching yoga at the YMCA, and founding the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy in Illinois in 1971; its headquarters moved to its current location in Honesdale, Pennsylvania in 1977.

Paramahamsa Madhavdasji or Paramahamsa Madhavdas (1798–1921) was an Indian yogi, yoga guru and Hindu monk in the 19th century. He was born in 1798 in Bengal.
