Pamlico County (/ ˈ p æ m l ɪ k oʊ / PAM-lik-oh) is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 12,276. [1] Its county seat is Bayboro. [2] Pamlico County is part of the New Bern, NC Micropolitan Statistical Area.
North Carolina's 1868 constitution adopted a "Township and County Commissioner Plan" for structuring local government, largely inspired by provisions in Pennsylvania's constitution. Townships were created under the county unit of government, with every county divided into them, and each given their own township board.
As of the census [3] of 2000, there were 285 people, 118 households, and 80 families residing in the town. The population density was 169.5 people per square mile (65.4 people/km 2 ). There were 133 housing units at an average density of 79.1 per square mile (30.5/km 2 ).
