Murray County is a county in the Northwest region of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 39,973. [1] The county seat is Chatsworth. [2] Murray County is part of the Dalton, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Chattanooga-Cleveland-Dalton, TN-GA-AL Combined Statistical Area.
Chatsworth is located in central Murray County at (34.772336, -84.778977), [9] in northwestern Georgia It sits at an elevation of 750 feet (230 m) on the west side of the valley of Holly Creek, with 2,840-foot (870 m) Fort Mountain and 2,780-foot (850 m) Cohutta Mountain rising over the valley to the east.
On October 1, 2021, Redmond Regional Medical Center joined AdventHealth becoming the third hospital to join the hospital network in Georgia, [9] [10] it was the last hospital in Northwest Georgia sold by HCA Healthcare. [2] In January 2022, it was renamed AdventHealth Redmond. [9]

A post office was established at Spring Place in 1826. [3] The community took its name from Spring Place Mission, a nearby Native American Moravian mission. [4]Spring Place held the county seat of Murray County from 1834 until the seat was transferred to Chatsworth in 1913.
