Kevin Keaton (born August 26, 1963), professionally known by his stage name Special K, is an American old-school hip hop emcee from the Bronx, New York. [1] He was prominent in the late 1970s, throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, and best known as member of the Treacherous Three .
The Treacherous Three was a pioneering American hip hop group that was formed in 1978 and consisted of DJ Easy Lee, Kool Moe Dee, L.A. Sunshine, Special K and Spoonie Gee (who left in the late 1970s), with occasional contributions from DJ Dano B, DJ Reggie Reg and DJ Crazy Eddie.
Keaton was born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx borough of New York City. [1] A former break dancer, he is the older brother of fellow old-school MC Special K of the Treacherous Three as well as rapper T.O.N.E.-z also known as Style or Tony Tone. [1] Keaton stands 6'4" tall and began in the 1970s as a DJ, a break dancer and an emcee. [2]

[1] On the original release, the front cover credited the performers as The Special A.K.A. featuring Rico, while the back cover mentions and the labels credited only The Specials.
