The Fremantle Passenger Terminal is a maritime passenger terminal at Victoria Quay, Fremantle. It was built between 1960–62, replacing the former cargo sheds located at the site of construction. [1] [2] [3] It was opened in time for arrival of competitors for the Empire Games in 1962.
A memorial fountain by Pietro Porcelli [19] was erected in Edwards' memory that year, and was moved to Fremantle's Kings Square in 1968. The Fremantle Passenger Terminal was constructed in time for the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. [20]
With the gold rush putting pressure on Fremantle harbour, a temporary wharf 91 metres (299 ft) in length was added to the south mole as well as a temporary 304-metre (997 ft) wharf on the north mole.
