Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park is located on the eastern shore of Orange Lake, a short way south of the village of Cross Creek. The park is about 8 acres (3.2 ha) in size, but is adjacent to public lands totalling about 115 acres (47 ha) historically part of the Rawlings property.

Crosswater Club is a private golf club in the northwest United States, located in central Oregon at Sunriver, southwest of Bend. Opened 29 years ago in 1995, the par-72 golf course was designed by Robert E. Cupp and plays to 7,683 yards (7,025 m), [ 2 ] at an approximate average elevation of 4,160 feet (1,270 m) above sea level .

Cross Creek was settled in the 19th century. Rawlings house may have been built in the 1880s. [2] Rawlings reported that Cross Creek was home to just seven families, five white and two black, when she moved there in 1928. The roads were unpaved and there was no electrical power or ice available. Electrical power lines reached Cross Creek in 1948.
