The Ship is a historic pub in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Redcar and Cleveland, England.The pub dates back to the late 18th century and is the oldest pub in Saltburn as it was part of the old fishing village before the town was developed on the other side of Skelton Beck, upon arrival of the railways in the area.
Saltburn would get a new boat in 1880, a 34-foot self-righting 'pulling and sailing' (P&S) lifeboat, one with oars and sails, constructed by Woolfe of Shadwell. Provided from a generous gift from Mrs Townsend of Tewkesbury, the boat arrived by rail, from where she was taken in procession to the boathouse, and named Charles and Ann (ON 215).
