Biddeford (/ ˈ b ɪ d ɪ f ər d / BID-if-ərd) is a city in York County, Maine, United States. It is the principal commercial center of York County. Its population was 22,552 at the 2020 census. [2] The twin cities of Saco and Biddeford include the resort communities of Biddeford Pool and Fortunes Rocks.
York County was permanently established in 1639. Several of Maine's earliest colonial settlements are found in the county, which is the state's oldest and one of the oldest in the United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 211,972, [2] making it Maine's second-most populous county.
According to the 2020 United States census, Maine is the 9th least populous state, with 1,372,247 inhabitants, and the 12th smallest by land area, spanning 30,842.92 square miles (79,882.8 km 2). [1] Maine is divided into 16 counties and contains 482 municipalities consisting of cities, towns, and plantations. [2]
Alan M. Casavant (born July 26, 1952) is an American politician from Maine. Casavant, a Democrat, represented District 137 in the Maine House of Representatives from 2006 to 2014. District 137 comprised portions of Biddeford and Kennebunk. Casavant was unable to seek re-election in 2014 due to term-limits.
