Sindarin is one of the constructed languages devised by J. R. R. Tolkien for use in his fantasy stories set in Arda, primarily in Middle-earth. Sindarin is one of the many languages spoken by the Elves. The word Sindarin is Quenya for Grey-elven, since it was the language of the Grey Elves of Beleriand.
In addition to Quenya and Sindarin, he sketched several other Elvish languages in far less detail, such as Telerin, Nandorin, and Avarin. In addition to Tolkien's original lexicon, many fans have contributed words and phrases, attempting to create a language that can be fully used in reality.
The highest Elves who went to Aman and saw the light of the Two Trees of Valinor spoke a single ancient language, Quenya. Those Noldor who returned from Aman to Beleriand instead adopted Sindarin, a Telerin language. The lowest Elves, the Avari, fragmented into many kindreds with different languages. [T 1] [5]
The singular form of the Quenya noun is Noldo and the adjective is Noldorin, which is also the name of their dialect of Quenya. [T 1] In early drafts of his legendarium, Tolkien used the name "Gnomes" for the group later called the Noldor, and their language, the Noldorin dialect of Sindarin, was called "Gnomish" or "Noldorin".
Quenya (pronounced [ˈkʷwɛɲja]) [T 1] is a constructed language, one of those devised by J. R. R. Tolkien for the Elves in his Middle-earth fiction.. Tolkien began devising the language around 1910, and restructured its grammar several times until it reached its final state.
For plural 2, the suffix is -li (-lí in Parmaquesta). "Thus in Quenya Eldar (not with article!) = Elves, The Elves, All Elves; i Eldar = (all) the Elves previously named (and in some cases distinguished from other creatures); but Eldali, Elves, some Elves. With Eldali the definite article is seldom used," [M 4]
Similarly shaped letters reflect not only similar places of articulation, but also similar manners of articulation. In the classical Quenya mode, row 1 represents voiceless stops, row 2 voiced prenasalized stops, row 3 voiceless fricatives, row 4 voiceless prenasalized stops, row 5 nasal stops, and row 6 approximants.
