Marc McKee is an American graphic artist known for his stylistic cartoon skateboard deck designs during the 1980s and 1990s. For his work as the lead graphic artist for World Industries, he is recognized as one of the most influential artists in skateboarding history. [1]
His pivotal career breakthrough came when he became the sole artist and art director for NHS Inc. in the 1970s and 1980s, where he created an extensive array of skateboard-related artworks, including decks, t-shirts, and stickers. [4] Phillips' Screaming Hand logo, designed in 1985, has become a global skateboarding and youth culture symbol.
He was the art director and brand manager of Creation Skateboards/Satori Movement [4] for three and a half years, creating designs for hundreds of skateboard decks. He teaches many art workshops and classes on technique, spray painting, traditional medicinal healing, [5] and the business of art, as well as offering an online class. [6]
On Dec. 9, 2010, Todd was voted the top skateboard artist "right now" by Complex magazine. [23] On April 20, 2011, Nike released the "Cheech and Chong" Dunk, designed by Bratrud. [24] In August 2011, Todd Bratrud designed the graphics for the XGames Converse Coastal Carnage contest and also built a trophy replica of the art. [25]
