The full network test checks your network for outages, the speed of the internet connection to your xFi Gateway and the strength of the connection to all your devices. Check Gateway/Router Placement Place your gateway, modem or router in the most central location of your home, preferably on the main floor instead of the attic or basement.

Sometimes a new device will try to join an Xfinity WiFi hotspot (xfinitywifi or XFINITY). Connect to your in-home WiFi network instead. Check to see if the WiFi network name and password were changed, and update your personal device WiFi settings to the new name and password, if necessary.
I test on my iPad about 5 feet from the modem. My old modem (black, 400 mbps) consistently gave me 375 to 425 mbps using my iPad. Xfinity test ran a bit higher. With the new modem, (white, 1 gig speed) I haven gotten over 350 mbps. The Xfinity test on the modem does read 1025 and sometimes higher but no device tests anywhere near that.
I see the new Xfinity speed test now allows selection of test server and IP version. Another thing I found was if your computer is attached to your network through switche(s), the economical swithes will slow your speed as well. I plugged my computer directly into my modem to get full spped when I upgraded to 1G.
If you have wifi as part of the test can you run ethernet from your router to the PC? For instance, my speed test wired is 550 - 650 down. Speed test using wifi runs 35 - 75. A couple nights ago wifi was running 102 down. The point being wifi can be variable. If you're slow using ethernet then there's something else going on.
@Curmudgeon101 Are you using the actual "Xfinity" app, not the Xfinity Connect app. Then select connect at the bottom. Then Internet heath comes up. Select that and it has the "Test speed to gateway". There are a bunch of different Xfinity apps that do different things. Connect, My account, Mobile ect.
If it's Xfinity gear, the one with the orange or red stripe is 2.5Gbps, the others are 10/100/1Gbps. The ports have been known to flake out entirely on XB7/8. If you happen to have a 1Gbps switch around, you could just plug into that and see if the computer port will do 1Gbps for a test. Xfinity gear is Yugo of networking equipment.
This differs from traditional internet speed tests, like our Xfinity Speed Test, which measure the speed reaching the device that’s running the test itself. Speed to Gateway results are often higher than results from a traditional speed test because they aren't impacted by various factors like WiFi conditions or device capabilities.
Try different browsers and test sites i have the xfinity 1200 plan and was only getting 300mbps via speedtest.net using Opera. I used the google test by searching "internet speed test" and got 900+. Safari only got my 400 via google but when i went
