Minot State University (MSU or MiSU) is a public university in Minot, North Dakota. Founded in 1913 as a normal school, MSU evolved into a university in 1987 and is currently the state's third-largest, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Four schools comprise the university's academic offering.

MSU will compete in the NSIC North Division, consisting of Bemidji State, U-Mary, Minnesota-Crookston, Minnesota-Duluth, MSU-Moorhead, Minot State, Northern State and St. Cloud State. [ 6 ] In July 2012, the university became one of six universities to join the NCAA as full members, with official membership commencing on September 1, 2012.

Old Main, constructed in 1907–1908, is a historic building at Dakota College at Bottineau (previously named Minot State University–Bottineau), a two-year college in Bottineau, North Dakota. The building previously housed the North Dakota School of Forestry. The building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
