The Heckler & Koch VP9 (known as SFP9 in Europe and Canada) is a polymer-framed semi-automatic striker-fired handgun. The VP designation in the name refers to Volkspistole , which translates to "people's pistol" [ 4 ] while SFP stands for "striker-fired pistol". [ 5 ]

The HK P9 is a semi-automatic pistol from Heckler & Koch in 9×19mm Parabellum, .45 ACP, and 7.65×21mm Parabellum and the first to use a variation of H&K's roller delayed blowback system in a pistol format and polygonal rifling [1] now common in H&K designs.
A USP Match is shown alongside USP Elite and Expert with Merkle Tuning weight. The USP Match (9 mm Parabellum, .40 S&W, .45 ACP) has the same features offered on the Expert, except for a barrel weight that replaces the elongated slide found on the Expert. This weight is said to provide a recoil counterbalance to aid in target tracking.
Further improvements include serrations on the front of the slide, a standard Picatinny rail for mounting accessories, and a barrel O-ring for more consistent lock-up of the slide and barrel as found on higher-end Heckler & Koch models such as the full-size USP Match, Expert and Elite, the Mark 23 and the SFP9/VP9 OR Match.
Early prototypes of the P30 were referred to as the P3000. The P30 is marketed by the manufacturer as a law enforcement service pistol. In 2006 the first customer of the P30, the German Federal Customs Administration procured 13,500 P30s for its forces.
The VP70 combined a number of design features that were innovative, or at least very unusual for its time: It was the first polymer-framed handgun, predating the Glock 17 by 12 years.
