Rainbow Dash and Applejack invite Fluttershy to go surfing with them, but she doesn't know how to surf. Her brother Zephyr Breeze suddenly arrives, bragging to Rainbow about being a long-time surfer, but Fluttershy knows for a fact he is lying.
Applejack looks for Fluttershy, but cannot find her. Soon, Vignette puts up her suggestion on Rainbow Dash's parade look, but she disapproves it and is also zapped up into the phone. The two end up in a white place with the salad that Vignette zapped up in the beginning. Applejack then sees footage that exposes Vignette's true colours to her.
Rainbow Dash is eager to ride the Wild Blue Yonder, a famous roller coaster in Las Pegasus, before it permanently closes. Applejack agrees to take over her classes at the School of Friendship if she chaperones Granny Smith and her elderly relatives for their annual Las Pegasus vacation, strictly instructing Rainbow Dash to never let them overexert themselves or leave her sight.

Zephyr shows Rainbow a multitude of items, none of which Rainbow considers to be suitable for Fluttershy's tastes. He eventually suggests an instant camera to replace Fluttershy's camera that broke the previous year. Rainbow Dash approves of the camera, buys it from Zephyr, and thanks him for his help.

Fluttershy, now tasked to find a gift for Rainbow Dash, travels with Applejack, who has Spike, to Rainbow Falls to shop for their gifts. There they find Flim and Flam swindling unwitting shoppers into buying cheaply-made dolls. They manage to expose their plot, but only after buying several of the dolls and using up their gift money.
