Barnegat Lighthouse State Park is located on the northern tip of Long Beach Island in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. The area where the lighthouse stands was regarded as one of the most important navigational points for ships bound to and from New York Harbor .
Barnegat was built in 1904 by the New York Shipbuilding Company in Camden. The vessel served from 1904 to 1924 as the lightship for Five Fathom Bank, which is located 15 miles (24 km) from the Cape May Lighthouse. [3] The vessel was then used as a relief for the next two years. In 1927 the vessel was assigned to the Barnegat Lighthouse station. [4]

Barnegat Light (pronounced "BAR-nuh-git") [18] is a borough in Ocean County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 640, [9] an increase of 66 (+11.5%) from the 2010 census count of 574, [19] [20] which in turn reflected a decline of 190 (−24.9%) from the 764 counted in the 2000 census. [21]
