    It is a wonderful movie up to a point, then they just drop an important aspect of the movie: both to the plot and the viewer’s emotional investment in the movie. It hollows out both the characters and their actions from there on while leaving many loose threads. The story’s ending falls flat and was very glib.

    Spoiler alert: Christmas didn't have to lose his father too, unnecessary sadness on the top of all the other sad parent loss parts in the story (the kids in London that lost the mother could relate already with Nicklas, his mother was eaten by a bear). The elf kid could easily keep the sledge flying.
