  2. Smallest wall mount mini split available??? - Heating Help

    forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/150764/smallest-wall-mount-mini-split-available

Small mini splits I only see lower BTU units in multi zone systems. I need a single zone cooling only for a 12 x 12 bed room.

  3. Smallest physical dimensions mini-split ceiling cassette?

    forum.heatinghelp.com/.../smallest-physical-dimensions-mini-split-ceiling-cassette

Anyone know off-hand which manufacturer(s) make the smallest dimension mini-split ceiling cassettes? Having a system installed in a master suite (small attic above) and want to minimize the visual impact of indoor units since ceilings are low. Most are roughly 22-24" square, but would love something smaller.

  4. Mini Split Condenser Sizing Questions — Heating Help: The Wall

    forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/165946/mini-split-condenser-sizing-questions

For very small loads like individual bedrooms you'll be better off using a mini-duct cassette sized for the combined load, whether it's on it's own modulating compressor, or an MXZ multi-split. Sizing the heads/cassettes to the room/zone loads becomes even more critical when they aren't modulating..." On May 25, Dana posted in the following link:

  5. Anyone added mini split heat pumps for supplemental heat? Did...

    forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/170051/anyone-added-mini-split-heat-pumps-for...

Our thinking was the standard heat pump put out half of the overall system BTUs at 5 degrees and since we only needed supplemental heat in the two bedrooms with their smallest mini split heads, it was still more than adequate to provide the necessary heat - even at 5 degrees.

  6. Mini Split for keeping a garage above freezing? - Heating Help

    forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/187440/mini-split-for-keeping-a-garage-above...

Mitsubishi has the PACsomethingsomething-US thermostat adapter that'll allow a standard stat to control a mini split. I doubt you'll find something designed to operate with a 50° indoor temp, but there's a decent chance it'll work without failing too obnoxiously quickly.

  7. Mini Splits refrigerant line insulation help.

    forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/188963/mini-splits-refrigerant-line...

I have a four-unit Mitsubishi Mini Split cooling/heating system. All the lines run outside the house because we are on a slab. As you can see in the pictures, the lines are covered by formed aluminum sheeting. Since it wasn't sealed very well, mice and chipmunks have had a field day inside the sheeting, using the insulation for their homemaking.

  8. Cooper and Hunter Mini Split System — Heating Help: The Wall

    forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/192354/cooper-and-hunter-mini-split-system

That's a good question! It's possible to have a well sized multi-split, it just happens 1 out of every 1000 installations. It's a combination of problems. The first problem is when smallest heat loss rooms receive their own ductless head. Say you have 2 bedrooms upstairs and three other rooms downstairs in a cold climate, with a heat loss of ...

  9. Mini-split compressor in crawl space? — Heating Help: The Wall

    forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/178030/mini-split-compressor-in-crawl-space

Look at the CFM requirements for the unit you are thinking about. I did a really quick lookup on a 12k unit from Mitsubishi and the condenser fan will move 1229 CFM, so with the space you have 1000 sq ft x 8' ceiling it will turn over all the air in that space in 6.5 minutes, and it will be heating or cooling that air the whole time.

  10. Most Efficient way to run mini splits with steam boiler

    forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/162755/most-efficient-way-to-run-mini-splits...

We just installed a Mitsubishi hyper-heat mini-split in my father-in-law's apartment downstairs, primarily for air conditioning, and I found this thread after asking the installer the same question. We have a relatively new Burnham Independence steam boiler, rated at 82% efficiency, installed about 18 months ago when the 50 year old boiler cracked.

  11. 4 wire control cable, How does the control work? Mini split heat...

    forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/184936/4-wire-control-cable-how-does-the...

On a mini split heat pump the indoor units "talk" to the outdoor units via the 4 wire control cable. The four wires are, ground, AC, AC and Control. So one wire for the control to turn it on and off and ask for heat or cool. Does anyone know if this is level based ac, serial coms, or something else.
