The fuel rail pressure is the injector pressure and can be 5k up to 23k. That is very high pressure. If you drill and tap the fuel rail, you may develop a leak and it be difficult to fix.

It reads about 5-7 psi off of the fass 95. It matches the factory gauges very well. I would get a lift pump gauge that is numbered less than 20.

   Only guage id get is a rail pressure guage, which can go up to 30,000 PSI.. The the Cummin may have a fuel pump, but the Duramax does not! There is NO pressure in a stock fuel filter -- it is all LOW negative pressure--. If you added a vacuum gauge-- that would show you when the filter is starting to be restricted.

I got the fuel pressure gauge pretty much to make sure the pump is running right and that the filters are fine. Fuel rail pressure is up at the motor, which is also good to have to make sure that the rail isn't dropping at wide open throttle.
