The quotation mark and @ symbol occasionally switch. I can write for hours in Word or other programs/apps and then suddenly instead of quotes, I get the @ symbol. It's a real pain. The only solution I have found is to restart my computer. Obviously this is a hassle to do every time. Why does this keep happening?
The 'new and improved' method mandates typing Shift+"", moving the cursor left to insert it between the quotation marks, inputting the text you want to include inside the quotation marks, then moving the cursor right to clear the quotation marks. I have selected the box in the "preferences" which elects "smart quotation marks," but when I hit the quotation mark key (shift '), I get the double-arrow instead (>>, except the two arrows are one character, nestled up together). M. M.C.S. Created on December 20, 2017. Unable to type quotation marks. I get the @ symbol instead. I made a few minor changes to my settings in order to remove the ENG icon from the Notifications area of my taskbar. Now, every time I try to type a set of quotation marks, I get the @ symbol.
