Cal will use the deep bowls as a game and use his feet to pull kibble out. The base yellowed in the sun so that's not great. The clear bowls come off the plate and if I put them on backwards it gives a gentler tilt which my cats prefer. The clear bowls are the perfect shape to hold their saucers which is how I actually use the bowl most often.
We have our cats bowls elevated. Stimpy was a scarf-n-barfer before we elevated the bowls. I have 2 older cats (12 yrs and 9 yrs), and all 3 are pretty big cats. The guys are tall and Lola is either Maine Coon or mostly M.C. 'cause she's huge for a female cat.
I have both raised and tilted bowls for my crew (all raised only one tilted). Nightfury, black one, has a very sensitive tummy. Over the years I've adjusted his diet, added a raised bowl and now a raised tilted bowl. Each item seemed to help a little more and we are now at a point where he vomits maybe once a week instead of multiple times a day.
Liver disease is a silent but serious threat that many cat owners might not consider. Cats are masters at concealing their pain, making it easy to overlook signs of liver disease, such as vomiting or increased sleep time.
Elevated liver enzymes in cats are not the end of the world but are an indication that something is wrong. The results of the blood tests require expertise and experience to decipher, as the overall pattern and ratio between the various enzymes need to be taken into account. You have to work with your veterinarian on getting a proper diagnosis.
When we moved here, the kitchen has only a regular-size sink and she never investigated it, that I know of; but we have a water fountain, and she loved to play in that just like she did in the big sink. Stationery water bowls didn't seem to hold any fascination for her, though. 248.JPG by tarasgirl06 posted Jul 17, 2014 at 5:57 PM
Schweppie uses stainless steel bowls in his double feeder for his wet and dry and a small ceramic bowl for his water. Little Guy uses the flatter stainless steel bowls with the rubber at the bottom because he eats on top of my laundry hanger/dryer thingy. He drinks out of a big ceramic bowl that he shares with my dog.
ANYWAAAAYS. Lucky uses the litterbox(es.. there's 3) to pee. I've witnessed him go pee in it many times. I've even witnessed him poop in it a few times. However, he likes to poop in the dry food bowls. Never on wet food.. just in dry food (and USUALLY it's my dog's food bowl.)
Every now and then, when I replace these bowls (stainless steel eventually gets well-worn with stains) a black residue appears on the paper towel when I dry them off. This is true of his small food bowls and the much larger ones I use for his water. I have a set of new stainless steel water bowls that I want to use asap.
My cat used to splash the water all over the floor and make a huge mess. She has stopped after being with us for a while. I thought she did it because she could not see the water, so, I put a clean plastic cat toy in the water bowl for a while. I also changed bowls a million times.
