Pennsboro is a city [1] in Ritchie County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 1,050 at the 2020 census. [3] The city is located at the junction of U.S. Route 50 and West Virginia Route 74; the North Bend Rail Trail also passes through the city. [6] The town was platted circa 1820 by Charles Penn, and named for him. [7]

In 1928, the grove was sold to Roy Richwine, who developed it into a full amusement park and opened Williams Grove Speedway in 1939. In 1963, Ashcombe Farm & Greenhouses opened on the eastern end of the village. On May 22, 1989, two men who lived at the Williams Grove Mobile Home Park tossed illegal fireworks onto the roof of Ashcombe's.
It is currently owned by Ed and Earl Michaels. In 2018 the speedway has played host to a few events. The remaining event will be the 19th Annual Little Guys Nationals, October 5th and 6th. Pennsboro station is a historic railway depot located at Pennsboro, Ritchie County, West Virginia.It is a one-story brick building built on two sections. It was constructed by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, with the first section built in 1883, and the second added around 1900.
