Brighton is a city in Livingston County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 7,446. [4] Brighton forms part of the South Lyon-Howell-Brighton Urban Area. It is one of two incorporated cities in Livingston County and incorporates land that was part of Brighton, Green Oak, and Genoa townships.
The golf course has four distinct sections, as noted on the scorecard. [6] The first six holes are inland holes; holes 7, 8, and 9 play through dunes, as they are the closest holes to Lake Michigan. The first four holes on the back nine are woodlands holes; and holes 14-18 are river holes, playing on or near the Paw Paw River .
I-96 – runs ESE and SE through central part of county, passing Fowlerville, Howell, Brighton. BL I-96 – business loop through central Howell, parallel to and on the north side of I96. Length 7.6 miles (12.2 km). US 23 – runs north–south through eastern part of county, passing Hartland, Brighton, Whitmore Lake.
Brighton's most recent championship was during the 2016 season when they took home the Michigan Youth Rugby Association (MYRA) Division II State Championship. As of 2017, there are 26 teams in the MYRA. [5] Brighton won MYRA Division I State Championships in 2002 and 2006, and also won the MYRA Division II Championship in 2008. [6] [5]
Blythefield Country Club is a private country club and golf course in the central United States, located in Belmont, Michigan, a suburb northeast of Grand Rapids. Founded 96 years ago in 1928, the par-72 golf course opened the following June and measures 6,859 yards (6,272 m) from the back tees.
According to historians, the club quickly became a haven for the wealthy of Detroit seeking to avoid the daily grind of the city. The club became very popular, hosting the Michigan Open in 1928, and even saw the construction of an airstrip. In 1930 the club hosted the Western Open, one of the most prestigious golf events of the time.
Designed by golf course architects Alister MacKenzie and Perry Maxwell in 1929, the par-70, 6,518-yard (5,960 m) course offers views of Lake Michigan and Crystal Lake. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore lies just to its east.
