The album received mixed reviews. Hot Press ' Edwin McFee who wrote that its "spirit of adventure infuses the opus with a sense of fun and excitement." [10] Caroline Sullivan of The Guardian gave the album three out of five stars, remarking that it seems a "waste of energy" to release an album of covers, but a few of the tracks were surprisingly fresh. The Soft Pack is the debut full-length studio album by American California-based indie rock band the Soft Pack. It was released on February 2, 2010, through Kemado Records in the United States and Heavenly Recordings worldwide.
The album contains three charting singles. One of the tracks, "Prove Me Wrong", was used in the movie White Nights and was Pack's only solo entry in the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 95. In a retrospective assessment AllMusic gave the album four stars, and said "despite the mostly stellar songwriting, which makes it a strong effort overall, some of the album's nooks and crannies haven't aged all that well because of Fairbairn's overwrought production, featuring an exaggerated sleekness typical of most mid-'80s pop-metal albums".
