   Two Husqvarna chainsaws; one purchased from a big-box store (Sears, Lowes, etc.), one from a Dealer. Are they identical? I’ve heard stories where, even though the model numbers are the same, the big-box product is a cheaply made knock-off of the Dealer version. Can someone confirm any of this?    The 272xp has become a nickle and dime me to death saw. It's ported and muffler modded. I have used my ported and muffler modded Husky 359XP in it's place, when the 272xp is down, but that's hard work for a little saw. Maybe the G444 clone of the ms440. The g444 or g372 would work ok.

   First the background on the two saws: The Husqvarna was brand new with no tanks through it. 20" factory bar with narrow kerf chain. Fuel used was Husqvarna ethanol free XP+ 50:1 mix. The Stihl had about 7 tanks of fuel through it. 18" factory bar with new Stihl .325/.063 standard chain. Fuel used was Stihl ethanol free 50:1 mix.

   I like Husqvarna chainsaws... All I have to say is this 272xp has never done me wrong. I love the power, balance, and simplicity. I like it more over my 372xp and while my ported 550 Mark II is a blast, this is still more practical for bucking hardwood. View attachment 863448 View attachment 863455.

   Stihl use Torx and they are serrated which don’t round as easily and won’t loosen as easy. Husqvarna are generally a bit cheaper than stihl. Husqvarna are generally known to have better air filtration and AV, but modern stihl have improved in both areas and are on par now.
