This is an interesting take, that project runway doesn't uniquely position designers to be successful because of the prominence of social media. But I think the best way to view this is in comparison to other reality shows, say, American Idol. Some winners actually do break through, like Christian Seriano or Kelly Clarkson, but most don't.

Jeremy Scott is odious. Last season's runway presentations also just being for the 3 or 4 judges only was also a huge letdown. They spend so much of that sweet sweet Amazon money on those runway shows they really ought to have actual audiences (I think they did for the first season?) . Just totally drains all the energy and fun out of fashion!
Season 3 had great diversity of point of view, and season 4 had some really big designers and probably the best set of challenges. Season 5 is when the show starts going downhill in my opinion. There was so much interpersonal drama that it's not fun to watch. Season 6 was the disastrous LA edition of the show.
