Dixon County is a county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 5,606. [1] Its county seat is Ponca. [2] The county was created in 1856 and attached to Dakota County. It was organized in 1858. [3] [4] Dixon County is part of the Sioux City, IA–NE–SD Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Allen is a village in Dixon County, Nebraska, United States. Located south of US Hwy 20 on NE Hwy 9 between Martinsburg, NE and Wakefield, NE. It is part of the Sioux City, IA–NE–SD Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 377 at the 2010 census.
After realizing the trade potential in towns near rivers, Gurney moved Hesperian Nurseries to Yankton, South Dakota, in 1897. [3] C.W. Gurney's seven sons were very involved in the family seed business, and in 1906, C.W. Gurney and his sons, and one nephew, had the nursery incorporated as Gurney's Seed and Nursery Company. [1]
The vaulted glass roof of the center, standing 65 feet (20 m) tall, makes it the predominant visible feature from the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 as travelers cross the Missouri River into Nebraska. The Marjorie K. Daugherty Conservatory, a $20 million greenhouse addition, opened in 2014. [2] Today, the site thrives near downtown Omaha.
