Area D (also known as Danger Island in a 2002 re-release) is a first-person adventure and puzzle FMV video game. It was developed by Dosch Design, published by ARI Data CD GmbH, and released in 1997 in Germany for Microsoft Windows. The following year, it was released in other European countries.

Danger Island was sighted by the French ship La Bouffonne in 1777. It was given its name by lieutenant Archibald Blair [4] during his 1786 survey of the Chagos archipelago. . Pukapuka, formerly Danger Island, is a coral atoll in the northern group of the Cook Islands in the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the most remote islands of the Cook Islands, situated about 1,140 kilometres (708 miles) northwest of Rarotonga. On this small island, an ancient culture and distinct language have been maintained over many centuries.
The nearest island is Danger Island on the Great Chagos Bank, less than 30km due north. There are two passages into the lagoon along the Northern Rim, Fausse Passe in the northeast and a wider passage in the northwest. The Egmont Islands are one of the favorite anchoring spots for itinerant yachtsmen passing through the Chagos. [3]
