The Holden Center Historic District encompasses a significant portion of the historic village center of Holden, Massachusetts.When first listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the district included only nine buildings, including the 1836 town hall, the 1789 First Congregational Church, the 1835 First Baptist Church, and the 1880 Old Post Office, as well as the 1759 Old Burying Ground.
The house is set on the west side of Manning Street, in the northeastern part of the rural town of Holden. The main house is a 1 + 1 ⁄ 2-story wood-frame structure, four bays wide, with a side gable roof, central chimney, and stone foundation. Modern additions extend the house to the right and rear.

Route 68 begins in the Jefferson section of the town of Holden, at Route 122A. It heads northward into Rutland, passing through the northeastern part of the town, passing the northern end of Route 56. It then heads into Hubbardston, crossing Route 62 and passing through the center of town before bending more northeasterly into the city of Gardner.
