The euphonium is a medium-sized, 3- or 4-valve, often compensating, conical-bore, tenor-voiced brass instrument that derives its name from the Ancient Greek word εὔφωνος euphōnos, [2] meaning "well-sounding" or "sweet-voiced" (εὖ eu means "well" or "good" and φωνή phōnē means "sound", hence "of good sound").
Robbert (1986) started his musical career as a flugelhorn player with Jo Delnoye but he switched to euphonium after several years. In 2004 he started his studies for euphonium with Piet Joris as his teacher at the Fontys College of Music in Tilburg. He followed courses in Solo Playing, Teaching and Chamber Music.
